John VAYRO mentioned above was b 1830, son of James VAYRO and Mary WALKER. He married Harriett RUMFITT in 1852. He went to Leeds sometime between 1853? (daughter born Ripon District and he made bankrupt) and 1858 (son born Leeds).
His occupation in the 1861 census was as a Draper and he was in Leeds. He wasn't there long, though, as daughter Harriett was born in Manchester in 1863. This particular John is Barbara Massam's Great Grandfather.

(WILLIAM) VAYRO versus JEFFERSON Breach of Promise of Marriage.
Mr Shepherd for Plaintiff. Mr Jones and Temple for Defendant.
The Plaintiff who is 24 years of age, resides with her parents at Ellingstring, in the North Riding and in January 1859 she entered the service of the defendant who is an extensive farmer at Jervaulx, near Leyburn. She had only been there about a fortnight when her master began to pay her attention, and a week afterwards he promised her marriage. In March 1860 a child was born but it has since died. The promise was proved by a fellow servant of the plaintiff and the brother of the latter also represented that he had heard the defendant say he would marry his sister. It was also alleged that he had remarked that if he did not marry her they might bring him up (male child?) and he would pay £100. In October 1861 the defendant married another woman (JANE ROBINSON) , but the action was not commenced until recently. Learned Counsel for the defence commented strongly upon the circumstances, asserting that no promise to marry had been made by the defendant, and the action was brought to extort money from him.
